Hinweise: This research seminar will provide an introduction to linguistic field methods (data collection) and ways of presenting and analysing linguistic data. It is directed to advanced undergraduate students as well as postgraduates The methods discussed will be useful in empirical studies forming part of Examens-, Magister-, Diplomarbeiten, or PhD theses. Note that while some of the areas covered in this seminar may be relevant for oral or written exams, this seminar is not primarily designed as a preparatory course for your state / diploma or master examinations. The Kolloquium is also meant as a preparation for a ca. two-week (subsidised) linguistic excursion to Ghana, West Africa, which will take place from September 21 to October 5, 2008. In addition to methods of data collection, the seminar will therefore cover the historical, cultural and linguistic background of Ghana.

GCSC / GGK members are very welcome.
